Must-see destinations in Mekong Delta

Mekong Delta is becoming increasingly attractive nowadays. Tourists will have opportunity to get the view of lakes system and enjoy sunrise on floating market or simply go boating under the shade of coconut trees. Simplicity and peace are what they can feel here.

Bellows are my tips and my experiences from my trips. Hope that they will be of help to you.

 

Ben Tre – ideal place to explore Mekong Delta region

In order to get to Ben Tre, you will have to cross Dong Tam snakes house and you will be amazed at the huge number of snakes here.

Then you will make for Rach Mieu bridge where you can see Con Phung, Con Quy, Con Tan Long and so on. You will have chance to visit candy manufacturing factories especially coconut candy, a famous speciality of Ben Tre. You can buy candies for you friends and relatives. Besides, the tour guide will take you to fruit garden to try local fresh fruits and enjoy traditional amateur music.

As for Ben Tre’s cuisine, fresh coconut water is the best.

There are many other destinations in Ben Tre for you to explore.

 

Dong Thap – heaven of picturesque lotus

Visiting Dong Thap, you will be lost in heaven of lotus with intoxicating scent. More interestingly, you can take beautiful photos with the view of lotus pond.

Additionally, you can enjoy specialities made from lotus such as stamen and grilled seed pod.

 

Can Tho – endless experiences

You will have new and interesting experience when going shopping in Cai Rang floating market. Can Tho is considered center of Mekong Delta region so a lot of trading activities happen in Cai Rang floating market, making it a crowded place. Hiring a boat for sightseeing won’t cost you too much money.

Mrs Binh Thuy’s house which is built in 1870 is the oldest and most beautiful house in Mekong Delta region.  Visiting the house, you will be introduced about dinning table manner of the family.

Ca Mau – challenging experiences

Ca Mau is the southernmost point of Vietnam. Here you can experience extreme hot weather conditions and sudden rains.

It takes you 2 hours to travel by boat to reach the southernmost point. Then you can visit mangrove forests. Interestingly, you will have opportunity to take a bath in the rain and feel bitterly cold wind.

You can enjoy fish dishes in restaurant in Travelling Community area.

Silver Stone Island is one of the most famous spot in Ca Mau that you should visit. It is gorgeous with stones of various shapes. It will be the best place where you can take photos

 

An Giang – experience yourself

You will find An Giang special and different from other provinces in Mekong Delta region. It has both moutains and rivers. Do not miss visiting Cam mountain. There is a temple and a lake with many carps. Especially, there is a sling system from which you can get the magnificent view of Cam mountain.

Then you should visit Tra Su cajeput oil forest where you can go boating in the middle of blue duckweeds. It is very quiet and peaceful so you will get yourself minutes of relaxations.

In conclusion, I am sure that visiting Mekong Delta region will give you unforgettable experiences and memories. You will be amazed at delicious foods of low price and the friendliness of local people. The beauty of simplicity and peace is available in Mekong Delta region only and can not be found in anywhere.
